Did the gt come with a limited slip diff? Whats the best aftermarket full exhaust system to go for? I want to to unleash the full sound of the v8 but not to intrusive on the highway. Well, that's a very broad question and your going to get numerous answers and opinions. First off, by "full" exhaust are you meaning headers also?? You'll pay considerably more for an install with headers. You can go with just a mid-pipe and cat back and be as loud as you want without headers. But if you decide to go with them, I suggest longtubes. As far as mid-pipes go, you have many choices. A lot of which goes to personal preference. You have H-pipes and x-pipes. You have high flow(with cats) and off road(no cats/loudest) in both styles. H-pipes are the stock style and give a deep, low tone. The x-pipe has more of a european style "raspy" sound. The cat backs are also very much personal preference. There are chambered, straight through and hybrid style mufflers. Each of these from each different manufacturer will have a different sound with straight through "generally" being louder. And each of these usually have different style tips that can affect t your decision. The cheaper versions of all of these are made with thinner/cheaper style steel. The more expensive versions are usually made with stainless steel which hold up better in the elements and that I suggest. See what I mean by it being a broad question? -------------------- 2003 RedFire Cobra

if you go to bold on the exhaust it will be annoying on the highway~ just a catback would probably be as far as I would want to go so it wont be bothersome on the highway

1) Yes they came with a Traction-Loc Diff.
2) The best.....well as far as quality goes make sure it is stainless steel. My Magnaflow is 7 years old and looks almost new. 3) I have heard a lot of systems and some are real loud all the time (Magnaflow Magpacks/SLP). I like the sound of Bassani and standard Magnaflow. My standard Magnaflow(NON-Magpack) system (High Flow X pipe and CatBack) is a little louder than stock at idle....but sound off at WOT (the mufflers are a straight though design packed w/stainless steel wool).

Magnaflow makes good quality stuff. They are all stainless steel.
Pypes are good quailty and it cheep. Thats what I have on my 08 GT. They are made out of stainless steel also. My axle back wasn't but 219.00 to my door. They make x pipes and catacks for your car. Yes the GT's come with track locs. Somethimes they wear out. Depending on how old or how used they are. My Cobra's track loc had to be rebuilt. -------------------- ![]() DSS 308, F303 cam, Windsor J/R heads, Explorer intake, 65mm TB and EGR, T70 Turbo swap in prosess. 500+RWHP Daily Driver soon. Well, since everyone else is throwing out personal opinions, like I said they would, I will to.
I LOVE my Borla exhaust on my Cobra. I've owned many styles......Mac, Flowmaster, Magnaflow, Steeda, Dynomax etc. and Borla tops my list. The sound is perfect, it's all stainless with a million mile warranty, fit and finish is top notch and the tips are the best looking around. -------------------- 2003 RedFire Cobra

Well I have a Dynomax o/r x-pipe with 3" Mac catbacks on my 99 Cobra. Sounds awesome but anyone who's heard it says it's a touch loud. I'm thinking about adding a Bassani catted x-pipe to quiet it down. And I've also heard of the Pypes company, I hear they are good, just not as well known yet.

I like BBK O/R X with Pypes drop in cats and SLP LMII Catback. But im biased. Basically any catted X pipe with a good quality catback. I like SLP, Borla, Magnaflow, and Bassani. Great quality in all these brands. Top notch metals and great fitment. It all depends on how loud you want it. Best idea is go to youtube and listen to all of them. They all have different sounds and tones that make them unique. -------------------- ![]() ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ |
